New reveal give insights about the iPhone ‘Fold’

There is still a year’s time for Apple’s first foldable iPhone to be expected to launch; however, a recent analyst report states that the past rumors may have got some important aspects of the device wrong. This new intel, therefore, makes things much clearer about the concept of the iPhone ‘Fold.’

The speculation surrounding the foldable iPhone seems to echo the rumors surrounding the once-coveted and eventually forsaken Apple Car. For years now, a host of publications have been speculated on the launch of a foldable iPhone. But these past few months have found some credibility in those assertions.

Well-known names like Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Ming-Chi Kuo, and The Information confirm that Apple is working on its first foldable iPhone, for which it targets a fall 2026 launch.

Last summer, the narratives hinted at a top-down folding mechanism, very reminiscent of retro flip phones, in that the device could be closed to a compact configuration and expanded to a larger display when opened. However, with fresh updates, the storyline changed.

Ming-Chi Kuo today conveyed his expectations for the 2026 foldable iPhone. Among several interesting details noted, Kuo specifies that the device will utilize a book-like design referencing an approximate 7.8-inch crease-less inner display in addition to a 5.5-inch outer display.

This new ‘book-style design’ signifies a drastic departure from what Kuo had first described. Kuo is known to be reliable due to the insider information he can acquire, primarily stemming from his connection to the supply chain.

One of the author’s favorite Apple products is the iPad mini. While it is currently not used much, the bulk of the work is done either on a 13-inch iPad Pro or on a MacBook Pro. Juggling managing between several devices can be quite a distress. However, a foldable iPhone, according to Kuo, could be the ideal two-in-one.
