A significant number of OpenAI’s ChatGPT users are dealing with substantial disruptions in accessing the generative artificial intelligence service this Thursday. This major outage has been confirmed by OpenAI noting an ‘increased error rates’ affecting ChatGPT.
The company communicated that the issue was addressed, mentioning, “This issue has now been resolved. Between 3:33 AM and 4:23 AM PST [12:33 PM and 1:23 PM CET], customers faced heightened error rates on ChatGPT and the API.”
This message was shared at 1:43 PM CET which indicated that a solution had been implemented and the situation was under observation. Despite this, plenty of users continued to report outages, which eventually prompted the company to update its website.
It revealed that the ongoing platform was investigated, have no cause was identified. For the past two days, users from all corners of the world have been dealing with access issues with the chatbot. In the United Kingdom, reports peaked at over 5,100 while in the United States, the figures exceeded 4,300.
Users encountered the error message, ‘Bad Gateway’ when they tried to access both the site and the app. Downdetector.com indicated that the users faced challenges with upload speeds or in accessing ChatGPT on Wednesday.
A user shared on social media platform X, “Hi @OpenAI, it seems there’s a general issue with photo uploads in your platform. Many users (including myself) have noticed that the feature isn’t working properly. Could you confirm if this is being looked into? Thanks for your help!”
Other users reported similar issues, however, the peak in the United States was limited to 296 reports around 5 PM CET. After some time on Wednesday around 5:15 PM PT, OpenAI announced that it had resolved login and file upload issues in an update.
