Google has taken a bold step by removing its AI assistant, Gemini from the Google app for iOS users. Now, users are directed to download the Gemini app from the App Store directly to access the assistant.
As per reports, the users were informed about this update via email on the 19th of February. Users encounter a notification telling them that Gemini now has its app along with its links to the App Store.
Through such an act, Google aims to boost its competition with popular AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. Probably all existing Gemini users will be forced to download the separate app because they may not be able to use the feature within this popular app made by Google.
The Gemini application for iPhone was released last month, just in time for the new features it introduced. The features allow access to the awesome Gemini Live voice assistant, as well as premium image generation and easy. It offers a seamless experience of other Google services, including YouTube and Gmail, all in one conversation.
Dmytro Tymoshenko, Director of Noiz, a company that produces AI-generated summaries of YouTube videos, said, “The major advantage of apps driven by AI technology is their great ability in personalizing the experience that users enjoy. AI will be able to analyze data at record speeds and thus will quickly recommend content that will fit the user’s tastes.”
The chief executive officer of Alphabet, Sundar Pichai mentioned, “It’s one of the most positive user satisfaction launches we have done in search and it is increasing overall search usage.”
He further added, “People are asking more complex questions, different types of questions. They are exploring a wider range of websites. And what’s particularly exciting is that this growth actually increases over time as people learn to adapt to that new behavior.”
