Recent images shared by the company revealed that Oppo’s upcoming Find N5 foldable phone is impressively slim, measuring only slightly thicker than its USB-C port when fully opened.
This flagship device is expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 for its launch in the United States and promises top-tier water resistance. For the past week, Oppo has been gradually unveiling details about the Find N5 on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Zhou Yibao, the product manager for the Find series, has posted images showing its sleek profile, noting that the only limitation to achieving a thinner design is the size of the charging port.
These images follow a video that came out last week where Zhou compares the hidden Find N5 to various everyday items. In the items, the device’s thickness was illustrated as that of two Chinese Yuan coins, a stack of four ID cards, or specifically 39 sticky notes.
Oppo mentions that the Find N5 is the slimmest foldable phone to date. Right now that title belongs to the Honor Magic V3, which measures 4.35mm when open, suggesting that the Find N5 is likely to be 4mm thick.
This accounts for its appearance which is nearly half of the 8.25mm iPhone 16 Pro Max shown alongside it in the images.
In another part, Zhou hinted at the impressive waterproof capabilities claiming it has an IPX9 rating. While it lacks official dust protection which is indicated by X. It has been tested to ensure high-temperature and high-pressure water jets.
In addition to this, it holds an IPX8 rating for submersion in water and an IPX6 rating for lower-temperature water jets. In contrast, this month’s OnePlus 13 boasts an IP69 rating that includes dust protection.
Oppo’s previous foldable, the Find N3, was eventually released in the West as the OnePlus Open. If history repeats itself, the Find N5 could pose formidable competition against Samsung and Google’s latest foldable offerings.
