The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 have stolen the limelight at the launch of the 50 series. However, for gamers who won’t want to shell out $2,000 for a graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070, priced at $550, and RTX 5070 Ti, running at $750, provide much more tempting alternatives.
An evaluation of the 5070 Ti shows clearly that this GPU sets a new standard for delivering a 60FPS 4K experience within Nvidia’s lineup. For the most part, it showcases some minimal compromises while still attaining steady framerates in some of the most demanding titles at the highest settings.
The experience is further enriched with multi-frame generation features to make the most of that new 4K monitor. Nvidia claims that the 5070 matches the performance of the RTX 4090 for less than half the price.
Testing the $750 card hints at a performance level much closer to that of the RTX 4080 Super’s worth, minus compartmentalized AI frame enhancements. On its own, that may not sound appealing, but the idea of picking up a new graphics card for less than last year’s number two definitely catches the eye.
For the review, Nvidia supplied the Asus Prime RTX 5070 Ti for Gizmodo. This is the first time Nvidia has released ‘Titanium’ edition GPUs alongside the base models, indicating an intention to create a new branch within its lineup.
Nvidia says the Ti will have at least 500 more TOPS of AI performance than the base 5070, along with 4 GB more VRAM, 2816 more CUDA cores, and 896 GB/sec usable memory bandwidth, up from 672.
The 5070 Ti is ostensibly of further advantage when compared to last year’s $800 RTX 4070 Ti Super cards from 2024, whereas it is just at the edge in terms of raw performance of last-year competition.
