Microsoft on January 23rd kicked off its first Xbox Developer Direct of 2025, spotlighting four exciting titles. These titles include Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Ninja Gaiden 4.
The event was live on The YouTube and Twitch channels of Xbox where the highlight of the showcase was the unveiling of Ninja Gaiden 4, developed by PlatinumGames and Team Ninja. It marked the return of the beloved franchise since Ninja Gaiden 3.
Microsoft has an action-packed year lined up with Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2, and Fable, all set for release in 2025. Although, they did not make an appearance during this Developer Direct.
The announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4 took the center of the stage during the Xbox Developer Direct. The last main installment, Ninja Gaiden 3, hit the shelves in 2012, however, the franchise has seen several spin-offs since then.
Ninja Gaiden 2: Black is a remastered version of Ninja Gaiden 2 which is now available for play. This remake makes use of Unreal Engine 5, as it has been highlighted in the presentation and it can also be accessed through Xbox Game Pass.
Compulsion Games offers an in-depth look at South of Midnight which is a southern gothic adventure ready to be launched in 2025. Players will follow the main character Hazel as she begins a haunted journey to look for her mother.
In a fresh glimpse of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive showcased its innovative turn-based RPG, introducing a faster-paced twist on traditional turn-based gameplay.
Doom: The Dark Age is a prequel to Doom (2016) which is designed to be an accessible entry point for newcomers. Unlike the frenetic pace of Doom Eternal, this installment focuses on raw power and brute strength.
