Budget Battle: Pixel 9a’s Affordable Price Challenges iPhone 16e

Googles affordable Pixel 9a is here

Google has finally announced its most awaited model in the Pixel 9 series, Google Pixel 9a. Just as the Pixel 9a leaked detailed specs and high-res images has shown, Pixel 9a comes with premium features at a cheaper price. For a price tag of Rs 49,999, the Google Pixel 9a comes with a fresh, stylish design and is powered by Google’s custom Tensor G4 chimney, as much as it is the cheapest option available in the Pixel 9 lineup. It is equipped with the same solid processor as all its more costly siblings.

All that may be forgiven with the competition, namely the Apple iPhone 16e, which launched on 28 February 2025. It competes with the Google Pixel 9a and is mentioned to start at Rs 59,900. However, the iPhone 16e is worth Rs 10,000 more than the Pixel 9a.

It should be noted that bringing two products actually brings two different user experiences since the Google Pixel 9a runs on Android while the iPhone 16e runs on iOS. So, perhaps, in addition to software, records, features, and many more, the most worthwhile consideration here should be price.

Under the hood, Pixel 9a is the first Google gadget to feature the newly introduced Tensor G4 chipset along with a Titan M2 security co-processor for added protection. The same piece of hardware also appears on the flagship models of the Pixel 9 series.

And, of course, the newest Android operating system is installed on the Pixel 9a, with numerous Google AI-powered features such as Gemini AI which has been in the press recently, and the very popular Google Assistant.

While Apple keeps the numbers hidden, it claims the iPhone 16e has a much larger battery than all the current 6.1-inch iPhones. At least that puts it above the iPhone 16 as far as battery size is concerned.
